The SEC stuck with convention and named Greg Sankey the heir apparent to Mike Slive when Slive steps down from his role this summer. Sankey's been on the SEC staff for 13 years and was the odds on favorite to replace Slive, sort of an Adam Silver/David Stern situation. Sankey was previously commissioner of the Southland Conference.
There had been rumblings among the Arkansas fan base that Jeff Long was in position for this job, but that won't be the case.
It's time to call into work sick because you've got that #SECBasketballFever in Nashville.
Here's how it all shakes out. A crazy last week bumped Georgia and LSU up to the 3 and 4-seeds while Ole Miss and Texas A&M fell to the 5 and 6-seeds. Arkansas will play the winner of the Vanderbilt/Tennessee game. The winner of that will likely play either Ole Miss or Georgia.
Keepin' the fever going strong.
Arkansas' begins on March 16 as announced last week, and the spring game is on April 25. Tennessee is the only other school playing their game on the 25th. I'd expect many of these games to air on the SEC Network (or at least SEC Network +).
I do think it's interesting how different schools organize their spring practices. Some like Georgia and South Carolina go through the whole thing in three weeks, while schools like Arkansas spread it out over 6 weeks. You'd think there'd be some sort of consensus on what the best strategy is but there isn't.
Another week of having that #SECBasketballFever.
What once looked like six SEC teams could make the NCAA Tournament has now dwindled to probably four.
We have passed the halfway point of conference play.
Not even the refs can keep the Hogs down.
Donnie Tyndall's Tennessee team is in second place in the conference standings. But, where are they in the power rankings?
