Wait, what!? How could this be true? People don't like Bobby Petrino? Welp, apparently that's the news coming out of Louisville - and personally - I couldn't be more shaken by it.
Graham Watson of Dr. Saturday wrote this article saying there are some issues at Louisville.
And with that, you can go ahead and lock up the "Most unpredictable article of 2014" award. Stunning stuff that no one, and I mean no one, saw coming.
When you sit there and tell me that this man...
... has enemies - I don't really know how to respond in any way other than genuine shock. How can this be? If this is true, what can you really truly believe anymore? This news sent me into a tailspin of confusion. The first thing I did was call my parents and make sure I wasn't adopted. Once they confirmed, I called my grandparents to make sure my parents weren't adopted. I've basically been on the phone the entire day making sure that my family is actually my family.
But this goes even beyond that. I look around and all I see are lies. Is the internet a brain washing device? Are the Illuminati real? Is soccer better than football? Does "throwing the A" actually look cool and I just don't get it? Just when you think you have life figured out it throws you this huge curve ball that pretty much makes you question everything. Next thing you know you'll being hearing news that Lindsey Lohan is in rehab or that Mark McGwire took steroids. I doubt I sleep tonight thinking about what news will come next.
Here are a few exerpts from this jaw dropping piece.
Petrino has had feuds with defensive coordinator Todd Grantham and several players, who wanted to leave Petrino’s program before it even got started.
My first reaction is that this is a total lie. I consider myself a logical person and when you tell me Bobby Petrino doesn't like his defensive coordinator then I just don't believe it. If there is one thing I know in this world it's that Bobby Petrino loves defense. It only takes one viewing of practice to know it's his number one priority. This HAS to be Todd Grantham's fault. Pure and simple. Todd just isn't working his defense hard enough (Or maybe he had a defender hit the QB in practice, that's scholarship pulling behavior, just can't do it)
Sports Illustrated noted that several players thought of leaving the team and entering the NFL’s supplemental draft in June.
"He’s a mean guy," Jamaine Brooks, a former Louisville defensive tackle who left this past spring told Sports Illustrated. "He cusses you out. You’re never doing enough."
Hey Jermaine, grow up. This is what we like to call "good coaching" in the biz. And as far as his language, well what people need to understand is that Bob is a big time adjective guy. Total wordsmith. Sometimes I'm not sure if Bobby is a coach first and a poet second or a poet first and coach second. That's how magical he is when talking to his players and even more so when talking to the press. You can ask any reporter that's ever covered BP - he's an absolute gem.
He’s still Bobby Mother------- Petrino."
Damn right.
P.S. - I only have one Petrino story that I can share. I had the fortune of sitting with Bob for dinner at my fraternity house back in 2008. He had to be there because we won some competition and you could tell sitting with a bunch of bro's on a Monday night was exactly what he wanted to be doing. So anyway, we are sitting there just having some casual dialogue (which was exhausting and terrfiying) and we get on the subject of his daughter's golfing ability. I said something to the affect of "Well that's great, there are a lot of scholarship opportunities in women's golf." He dropped his fork- literally he had his fork like half way up to his face and he dropped it- and I knew I needed to buckle up. So he drops his fork, slowly turns to me with this face ...
... and says "Actually, what's your name again? Drew? Well, Drew that's completely 100% wrong. There are ton of overseas girls coming over here and taking the scholarships, it's really harder than men's golf now." He then stared at me for what was probably 5 seconds but felt like 5 hours and then turned away and started eating again.
I just got up and starting doing laps around the house as self - imposed punishment. **
**(I made that last part up, I don't do laps)
Double PS- Still love you and miss you everyday BMFP
