Spread

Most books have Arkansas as a 33-point favorite, O/U 50.5.  We here in Nashville offices of Arkansas Fight think that if you’re taking the Hogs here, you’re betting on the defense.  I don’t think the Hogs will have much trouble scoring on Saturday afternoon, but with two teams who LOVE to run the ball, this won’t be a long game.  If UTEP scores more than 10 a cover for the good guys may be tough in a 2-2.5 hour game.

Weather

Couldn’t ask for much better weather for an early September first game in Fayetteville.  We’re looking at a high of 89 and low of 70 at DWRRS and 0% chance of rain.  Get out to campus early and check out SEC Nation on campus from 8-11 (No Tebow this year, sorry ladies).  90% chance of BERT in flip flops on camera though.

Notes

Remember last year when we had to open on the road against Auburn?  Yeah, this is about as opposite that as we could find.  There aren’t a lot of teams in the FCS that like to run the ball more than the Razorbacks, but we found one.  As our Josh Goforth covers here, UTEP ran the ball 65.4% of the time in 2014, so our depth at D-line will show early and our revamped linebacker corps should get a nice warm-up.  We’re looking to see BA look sharp, how many receivers will touch the ball (hopefully lots) and how Alex looks as the lead back.  Don’t miss kick-off folks, because with 2 running teams this game will have you home well before dinner, and you never know when an opportunity for BERT to try and get his guys a Piesman Trophy nomination might show up.  Enjoy these early games while we can Hog fans, the nasty that is the rest of our schedule hits in October.
