One of Arkansas' three scholarships available this spring has been filled with the transfer of Colorado forward Dustin Thomas.

Thomas just completed his sophomore season in Boulder and will sit out this season as per transfer rules. He will be eligible for two seasons beginning in 2016-17.

He played sparingly for Colorado, averaging 16.7 minutes per game last year and scoring 4.4 points per game. He shot 47.2% on two-point shots and mostly stayed inside the arc, attempting only 19 threes and making 6. He made 67.9% of his free throws. He averaged 2.5 rebounds per game both seasons.

Out of high school, he was rated the #150 player in the country by Rivals and he also reportedly was offered by Oklahoma.

If you're kind of scratching your head about this, you're not alone. It might make a little more sense if he could be immediately eligible, as the Hogs certainly still need some additions to the roster for next year, but they do still have two scholarships available for players that could potentially help them immediately next season, so we'll see how they end up using them. Hopefully, Thomas will be able to blossom at Arkansas and make an impact in a couple of years.

He is reportedly a good friend of top football recruit McTelvin Agim as they both grew up in Texarkana (Agim now lives in Hope), and Agim seemed excited to see his friend headed to Fayetteville:

Here's a highlight video of him from high school.
