Arkansas Recruiting: Briston Guidry Commits to the Razorbacks

Defensive Tackle 6'3" 290 lbs. Metairie, Louisiana

Student Sports

Today, today is a good day for Bret Bielema and Hog fans everywhere. The Razorbacks completed a successful scrimmage open to the public, picked up a commitment from T.J. Hammonds - who some consider the #2 player in Arkansas this year, and now have gotten their second commitment of the day, from 4* defensive tackle and top 100 prospect Briston Guidry out of Matairie, Lousiana.

This is Arkansas' first out-of-state commitment for this class and fourth overall.

Guidry is a composite 4* prospect and a top 100 overall prospect according to Rivals. He holds offers from LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ole Miss and many more. He recently visited College Station for A&M's junior day. He took an unofficial to Arkansas last spring for the Razorbacks' Red/White game. His 247 Crystal Ball was favored toward LSU.

It's rare to pull a highly-rated prospect out of Louisiana who also holds an LSU offer but the Hogs were able to do it with Guidry. He goes to the same school that current Hog sophomore Henre Toliver and Dwayne Eugene attended. According to 247, Guidry has a great relationship with Bielema and wide receivers coach Michael Smith (Louisiana is Smith's assigned recruiting territory, you might remember he was discussed for a job on LSU's staff a couple months ago) as well as a solid friendship with Toliver.

Bielema and the Razorbacks have been receiving raves for building depth along the offensive and defensive lines and this will be a new highlight. Defensive line was arguably the most highly-touted unit Arkansas signed this year, and the Razorbacks will also be hoping to have McTelvin Agim and other join Guidry in February.
