Arkansas Football Countdown: 13 Days - Davyon McKinney

Empty Saturdays Remaining: 1

Wesley Hitt

Wearing lucky #13 for Arkansas is safety Davyon McKinney. McKinney is a redshirt sophomore from Forrest City, who originally played as a cornerback but was moved to safety this spring.

McKinney played in 11 games in the 2012 season, missing only the Louisiana-Monroe disaster but starting in Arkansas' two SEC wins over Auburn and Kentucky, and recorded 11 tackles throughout the year.

He was not listed on the post spring two-deep, as the coaches hope to work with him further and develop him at safety. This is how Bielema described him early in the spring:

McKinney is a great effort player and we might actually look at a possible transition to some safety as well, but he is a little bit of a work in progress.

It will be interesting to see what McKinney can do at safety over the next few years. Listed at 6'3" and 196 lbs and able to see the field as a freshman, he's certainly an intriguing prospect at safety in the future.
