A big deal was made of all the Louisiana players and all of the Louisiana commits around the time of the game against LSU after which, Arkansas took home the Golden Boot for a 2nd straight year.
De'Jon Harris joins a list of current and future players from the talent rich state to the south, and should be a much needed piece to augment the lack of depth in the Linebacker corp at Arkansas.
De'Jon is a 3 star linebacker according to 247Sports. He chose Arkansas over offers from Alabama, Oregon, Arizona State, and several other smaller schools. Harris is considered a 3* prospect by both Rivals and 247. He was an All-District player last fall after finishing with 82 tackles, including 15 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and three passes defended.
Arkansas may be lucky that De'Jon was rated as a 3 star, because Alabama did come in with a late offer and a visit on January 29th. One of the reasons many are high on De'Jon is because he also played Quarterback for John Ehret High School and led them to a 2nd place finish in the Louisiana Class 5A State championship in 2015. Alabama asked him if he wanted to play Running Back or Linebacker at Alabama.
No word from the coaching staff if they intend to consider De'Jon as a running back, but he must be happy with seeing what Dre Greenlaw was able to do as a freshman at Arkansas the opportunities that are in store on the defensive side of the ball.
