The NFL combine is underway in Indianapolis and scouts are lining up to see how fast athletes in spandex can run and jump. Whether or not it is fair to judge players on combine results, it's a huge deal. Right now, six former Razorbacks are being put to the test there. The two with the most to prove at the combine are the running backs. Alex Collins says he wants to showcase his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. Jonathan Williams needs to give teams a reason to fall in love with him after missing his last season with the Razorbacks.
The basketball season is almost over, and an eye is turning to next year, which will have a lot of roster turnover for Arkansas. As we all know, there will be some star JUCO guys coming in, led by Daryl Macon who is really shining right now. Macon has put up some wild stats at Holmes Community College in Mississippi and will step right in to the shooting guard role Arkansas will need. Arlando Cook and Jaylen Barford (who recently was named his conference's Player of the Year) are also coming from the JUCO ranks, and the article hits on their successes as well.
Spring training has started for a handful of #ProHogs. The Arkansas Traveler has a quick refresher on those guys right here. Dallas Keuchel will look to defend his Cy Young title, Drew Smyly and Logan Forsythe will be teammates for the Rays, and James McCann will look to build on a good season with the Detroit Tigers. One thing of note is that Cliff Lee is no longer a free agent. The 37-year-old is expected to retire after a journeyman career with a handful of teams that highlighted with a Cy Young award in 2008.
If you're looking for something to occupy your time at work, look no farther. Here is a database of the last 50 years of Arkansas recruiting. It has some interactive maps showing the hometowns of all of the Razorbacks' previous recruits along with some fun facts. You can play around with that for a while, and learn a thing or two about the expansion of college football recruiting.
