Arkansas Razorback Internet Chatter: July 29 - Portis at LBJ Camp, RB Situation, Rotnei Clarke

PLUS a big-time announcement regarding some high-level prep basketball coming to Arkansas this fall!

Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

The Razorbacks' running back situation remains the same as it was when spring ball ended, with Jonathan Williams, Alex Collins and Korliss Marshall listed as "1A, 1B, and 1C." Running backs coach Joel Thomas is looking at the situation as a positive, and it's easy to see why – he has three explosive playmakers other SEC coaches would do something very illegal to have for themselves. And as we've previously noted multiple times on this site, Bielema has worked with three solid backs before and found them carries. Having three capable backs isn't a problem. The coaches call it having options.

Bobby Portis, a LeBron James Skills Academy graduate along with teammate Michael Qualls, tried to get LBJ to crack on where he was going to play in 2014-15 while in Las Vegas at James' camp. But even as charismatic as Portis is, it didn't work. But aside from the light joking, Portis and Qualls both left the camp with good reports. Portis recaps his time in Vegas with Bron Bron here.

You guys remember Rotnei Clarke? How could you not? The man responsible for the most points in a single game in Bud Walton Arena spent some time with reporters recently, discussing his departure from Arkansas and John Pelphrey and his life after that move. Clarke ended up at Butler, having a nice career, and is now playing overseas and doing very well. Someone should also send out the smoke patrol on his new wife, but that's beside the point. Robbie Neiswanger caught up with the former Hog sharpshooter to talk Arkansas and everything after.

UPDATE: Rotnei just hit another three on Alcorn State.

Our partners here at Arkansas Fight, ESPN 99.5, hosted by Nick Mason and Aaron Fuller, announced along with Bentonville High School that Malik Monk and the Tigers will host another top talent in Jayson Tatum of Chaminade (St. Louis, MO) in the fall. The time and date will be announced at a later date, but this is a big deal. Job well, done Nick and everyone else involved.
