Arkansas Recruiting Update: Blake Johnson Commits To The Razorbacks

Punter 6’1” 190 lbs. Los Alamitos, California

The Razorbacks will be in need of a new punter in 2015 with the graduation of Sam Irwin-Hill, and it appears they’ve found a good one in Blake Johnson.

Johnson is one of the top-ranked punters in the nation for this year’s class. 247 ranks him 3rd in the nation, Rivals has him 4th, and ChrisSailerKicking.com ranks him 2nd. He also held offers from Duke, Colorado, and Oregon State. He also recently accepted an invitation to the U.S. Army All-American Game. This is Johnson’s decription on Sailer’s site

"Blake is simply an outstanding punter.  A great athlete with all the tools.  Has a great punting frame and strong leg.  Punts for excellent distance, hang time and direction.  Does his best under pressure.  A fine young man with a great attitude and work ethic.  Has a bright future at the college level.  Big time prospect."

He also played linebacker for his high school team in Los Alamitos, so he’s a decent athlete overall. You can see those highlights here. We all know the coaches like to go for a fake punt every once in a while.
