Arkansas Recruiting Notes - January 19: New Offers and Visits Scheduled

That latest goings on as the Hogs look to fill their class by Signing Day.

With two major recruiting visit weekends remaining and up to nine spots to fill, the Arkansas coaches are in the process of trying to get as many top prospects to visit as possible, as well as making late offers to players to get them to visit and possibly take some of those scholarships.

It's a very fluid situation with several schools vying to host these final visits as well as pushing players for commitments and canceled visits to other schools. Here's the latest from Tuesday based on what we saw from social media and free outlets:

I think this Chris Daniels story is one of the more interesting going on right now. Daniels played high school football in Dallas but is originally from Arkansas and has a lot of family in the state. He's a 4-star defensive tackle the Razorbacks hesitated to offer because of eligibility concerns, so he committed to Oklahoma in December. Daniels has apparently recently earned his eligibility and the Hogs made the offer. Coaches visited Daniels in Dallas on Monday and are hoping to get him to visit Fayetteville.

Brandon Jones is a 4-star safety from Texas rated by some as the top safety in the country. He just finished an official visit to Texas and the Longhorns were hoping he'd commit, but he's keeping his official visit to Arkansas this weekend. He's already also taken visits to Texas A&M and Ole Miss. He's supposed to visit Baylor after Arkansas. The Horns and Aggies have all of his Crystal Ball pics on 247. He might be a long shot, but he'll be on campus and we'll see if the coaches can win him over.

----

The excellently-named Giovanni LaFrance has now been offered by the Hogs and planning to visit this weekend. He was originally expected to visit but wasn't offered, so he canceled the Arkansas trip to visit Utah, who had offered him. But now he's headed to Fayetteville again because the Hogs pulled the trigger on the offer. Ah, recruiting.

Arkansas never offered Sean Foster but there was recent talk that they might. He's a 4-star offensive tackle whose father played with Bielema at Iowa. However, for a 4-star prospect, his offer list is somewhat underwhelming and it appears the Arkansas coaches never made a visit to see him.

The Hogs reportedly offered juco Tramal Ivy on Tuesday. There's not yet an official visit reported for Ivy. There are three predictions made for him on his 247 Crystal Ball and all are picked for Nebraska, where he scheduled to visit this weekend. He was previously committed to Oklahoma State.

Joseph Putu is, as you can see from the tweet, a Juco All-American cornerback coming to visit. He has not yet been offered by the Hogs as far as we can tell. That may or may not depend on what happens with some of the other players they have coming in for a visit. The Razorbacks would easily be his top offer if they extend it (assuming of course no one else gets in on him). This could also be the "coach's discretion" pick Bielema referred to in his press conference last week.

This is Devwah Whaley's uncle's Twitter account. This is from an in-home visit with Whaley last month, I believe. Whaley's uncle seems to be extremely excited about the Razorbacks and often tweets supporting messages.
