Bret Bielema Press Conference Tweetcap - October 13th

Here's what Coach B had to say a couple days after the Alabama game.

Wesley Hitt

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Bielema: Brooks Ellis has a pretty significant bone bruise on knee, could recover quickly, but more likely out a little while</p>&mdash; Thomas Murphy (@TomMurphyADG) <a href="https://twitter.com/TomMurphyADG/status/521707094144061440">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

I'm going to go ahead and believe Brooks Ellis won't be playing against Georgia. These bone bruises can hurt for a while. The Hogs might be fortunate to get him back by Mississippi State. That's a blow too. Ellis was leading the team in tackles when he got hurt Saturday night.

It sounds like Marshall's might not be as bad as Ellis'. We'll see. But his loss is probably not as big an impact as Ellis'.

Thanks, Coach!

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>BB: The way we&#39;ve played this season has opened some eyes in regard to recruiting. Cue up all the Little Rock haters complaining about recruiting at War Memorial. Complaining about War Memorial and Little Rock in general is always by far the worst part of Little Rock game weeks. Haven't seen much yet this week and hopefully that won't change.

I think when people always ask Bielema if he was "ready" for the SEC when he took the Arkansas job, if he was aware of the challenge or if he was aware what Arkansas' roster was like, they should also ask if he was prepared for Penn Wagers. I bet no one told him.

Not a good look for those AT&T headsets seen in the pic above.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>BB: Collins probably had his worst game. The good news is he is positive and he hasn&#39;t done anything wrong. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Bielema says Collins missed a workout. He actually was taking a test, but didn&#39;t tell anyone. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I hope this is true. I always hear stories about GAs having to go check on players when they're supposed to be in class so I do find it pretty strange Collins missed a workout to take a test and no one knew about it.

I'm pretty sure someone on the football staff knows Alex Collins' whereabouts 24/7. Or at least there probably should be.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>BB: The defensive personnel has done an excellent job in holding off Heisman prospects and opportunities for the offense.</p>&mdash; Razorback Nation (@RazNation) <a href="https://twitter.com/RazNation/status/521710537185325056">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

The season's only halfway over but I think it's safe to say the defense has outplayed its expectations so far. The improvement has really been spectacular. And credit Bielema for hiring them last winter.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>BB: I still think are some repercussions regarding Skipper&#39;s attitude, but I saw him make numerous improvements to his emotional control.</p>&mdash; Razorback Nation (@RazNation) <a href="https://twitter.com/RazNation/status/521711678124081153">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I haven't seen the replay, but most everyone swears Skipper shouldn't have also been charged with a penalty. I believe it, but I also believe he's developed a reputation that's removed any benefit of the doubt when it comes to him. Hopefully, if Bielema submits it to the SEC office it will begin to tear away at officials looking for reasons to flag Skipper.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Bielema said AJ Derby wasn&#39;t to be denied. He&#39;s out-running Alabama DBs. He probably made himself a nice little coin package on that play.</p>&mdash; Thomas Murphy (@TomMurphyADG) <a href="https://twitter.com/TomMurphyADG/status/521712350340997120">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

AJ Derby. Future NFL superstar. We all knew it from day 1.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>BB: The biggest failure for us is not being able to put up points in the fourth quarter. We have to finish.</p>&mdash; Razorback Nation (@RazNation) <a href="https://twitter.com/RazNation/status/521712441357389825">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Yeeeeep.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>BB: Keon continues to play at a high level, but we need more from Wilson and Hollister.</p>&mdash; Razorback Nation (@RazNation) <a href="https://twitter.com/RazNation/status/521713110663442432">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I think it's fair to say now six games into the year the receivers have not been where we thought they'd be. There have been moments but we've seen so little from Wilson and Hollister. And Drew Morgan for that matter. Kind of surprised we don't see more Kendrick Edwards.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>BB: We left 11 points on the field, and we lost by 1. We left 7, maybe 14, points on the field at A&amp;M in an overtime game. That excites me.</p>&mdash; Razorback Nation (@RazNation) <a href="https://twitter.com/RazNation/status/521713496224854016">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

"Excites" isn't the word I'd use. But I get what he's trying to say.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Bielema: Just had a lengthy spiel about the nuts and bolts of calling a timeout. He&#39;s going to suggest coaches with red flags on sideline</p>&mdash; Thomas Murphy (@TomMurphyADG) <a href="https://twitter.com/TomMurphyADG/status/521714690318016512">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>BB: A team lost on Saturday because of a possible timeout. Do you want me to train my whole offseason based on a possible timeout?</p>&mdash; Razorback Nation (@RazNation) <a href="https://twitter.com/RazNation/status/521714618687696896">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Bielema wants coaches to get flags or whistles to help with timeout calls. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Y'all just think Mr. 10-second Rule won't submit this to be an actual rule. He is not joking. He'll have refs running around with one of those vibrating "you're table's ready" gadgets to signal timeouts before he's through with this.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>BB: We wanted to get more hang time on Irwin-Hill&#39;s kicks.</p>&mdash; Razorback Nation (@RazNation) <a href="https://twitter.com/RazNation/status/521714791606263809">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Alabama clearly won the punting battle Saturday - especially in the 2nd half, which was somewhat disappointing. Arkansas started 5 of their 7 2nd-half drives inside the Razorbacks' 20-yard line. Hard to have success against the Tide when you don't have shorter fields than that.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>BB: If they had scored first after halftime, I would have gone for two no matter what. It&#39;s a coaching judgement on when to play that card.</p>&mdash; Razorback Nation (@RazNation) <a href="https://twitter.com/RazNation/status/521715172516184064">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I didn't have a problem in the moment with Arkansas not going for 2. The Razorback defense was dominating and that was early enough in the 3rd quarter that the Razorback felt like they moving the ball well enough to be able to go for 2 if necessary later on.

If Arkansas goes for 2 and misses, then Alabama could have kicked 2 field goals and won. You never know how the game will play out, and with Arkansas dominating like they were at the time, I'm not upset about that.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>BB: Usually in a kicking situation they provide a dry ball. I kept asking for dry balls because the ground was wet and our kids were wet.</p>&mdash; Razorback Nation (@RazNation) <a href="https://twitter.com/RazNation/status/521715784263806976">October 13, 2014</a></blockquote>
