Arkansas Football Countdown: 28 Days - Ray Buchanan, Jr. & Greg Gatson

4 weeks from today is game day.

Wesley Hitt

Ray Buchanan, Jr is Arkansas' current number 28. He had the good fortune of redshirting the 2012 season to both develop and avoid the John L stench as much as possible. He'll be a redshirt freshman at cornerback this year. He wasn't listed on the two-deep after spring practice but will have opportunities to see the field this year. He was productive in spring, highlighted by an interception in one of the spring scrimmages.

Buchanan is from Suwanee, Georgia, where he became friends with current Arkansas commit Chris Murphy. Buchanan chose Arkansas over offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Louisville, Cincinnatti, and others. His father, Ray Sr. is a 12 year NFL veteran.

Pictured performing a completely legal pass breakup is Greg Gatson, who played cornerback for the Razorbacks from 2007-2011. He was a significant contributor the last couple of seasons, compiling 54 tackles from 2009-2011. Gatson eventually joined the San Diego Chargers as a free agent and appeared in two games in 2012.
