Not a lot out there on Bassett, but from what we can tell, he's a 6'8" power forward with other offers from (according to Rivals) Mississippi State, Oregon State, Virginia Tech, Colorado, and others. He's a consensus 3* prospect
Today is the beginning of an new recruiting period for basketball, if I'm understanding this correctly, so coaches are flocking to some of their top targets for in-person visits. Anderson and Calipari will both be in Bentonville today and Oregon will be there on Friday. I'm not sure why Arkansas won't have someone there every day, honestly. Monk's other three finalists are Florida State, North Carolina, and Kansas.
The Rockets are getting a bit more respect than UTEP was given.
So what do y'all think about this?
Word is getting out in advance of that radio show tonight. Malik Monk apparently has six finalists consisting of Oregon, Kansas, Kentucky, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Florida State per Rothstein's tweet. He will visit Arkansas the weekend of the big Auburn football game, which will hopefully be a really exciting weekend with lots of top football prospects visiting as well. He is visiting Kentucky when they have their Big Blue Madness practice kickoff event.
Yes, Billy Ray Cyrus is wearing a Razorbacks cap at the MTV VMAs. Anybody know if he's a fan? Add him to the list of celebs that would have been better fits than Ralphie May for that SEC documentary from last year. I'd think he'd better be a fan if he uses the hat to hide his trademark early 90s mullet.
Cook is a 6'8" forward considered one of the top juco prospects in the country. He has offers from LSU, Kansas State, Memphis, West Virginia, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, and as you can see, The Wildlings, whom he'll visit next week. He averaged 11.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while shooting 57.2% from the field last year at Connors State. He's likely the first prospect to visit since the new practice facility has been completed.
Agim, one of the nation's top prospects, will announce his commitment on Saturday just before the Razorbacks begin their season. Agim is a defensive end from Hope rated as highly as the nation's #9 overall prospect according to ESPN. His four finalists are Arkansas, Baylor, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss.
Nice touch from the new commish. Also, he's coming to Fayetteville for the Texas Tech game, apparently. I suppose he enjoys hearing the "SEC" chant in person.
There's tons of really great stuff here. And I'm not just saying it because, you know, team player and what not. For instance, highly recommend you take the "SEC Non-conference Opponent or Unaccredited University?" quiz. I got 11 out of 14, which I'm pretty proud of. Spencer Hall previews each and every SEC game. Also, you may know there is a Chipotle 0.1 miles from Arkansas' campus, but there are 46 schools with Chipotles closer to campus. How unreal is that? There's also several great more serious features as well. You can easily spend all day on this stuff.
