Depth Lost At Running Back With Loss of Spivey

Arkansas took a hit on Wednesday in the running back room when redshirt freshman, A’Montae Spivey announced his decision to transfer via his twitter account.

The former three star back from Phoenix City, Alabama has made the decision to end his season after five games and enter his name into the transfer portal.

Going into the 2020 season, many thought it would be an uphill climb for Spivey to find many meaningful snaps at running back. With three upperclassmen and and a true freshman he would compete against it would be a battle.

Arkansas now finds themselves with only three active scholarship running backs. Their track star turned walk-on running back, Josh Oglesby would have contributed a little bit but was sidelined with an injury during fall practice.

Spivey was called upon in the week three loss at Auburn when he came into give fellow back Trelon Smith a breather. He toted the rock four times for 11 yards.

He was also the lone running back signed in the 2019 class, too. He found a few carries late in the 2019 season when he played in games versus LSU and Mississippi State where he totaled 24 yards on seven carries.
