One of the best running traditions that comes with the start of baseball season is the Athletic department coming out with the Sounds of Baum. We got everyone’s walkout song for the season right there. So in the interest of hard hitting service journalism we have to ask the important questions.

Who has the best walk out song?

Let’s do this in the most scientific way possible with P-P-P-POWER RANKINGS with arbitrary categories for each.

We’re an SEC School and are Required to Have Country Songs

  • Casey Martin: The Only Place I Call Home by Justin Moore
  • Elijah Trest: Great Day To Be Alive by Travis Tritt

The Religious One

  • Zack Plunkett: Awesome God by R-Swift

Classic Rock? Yeah Let’s Do Some Classic Rock

  • Trevor Ezell: All Right Now by Free
  • Dillon Lifrieri: Come Together by The Beatles

Want Some Metal?

  • Matt Cronin: Shepard of Fire by Avenged Sevenfold
  • Jacob Kostyshock: Bulletproof by Godsmack

Oh That’s Right, Lil’ Wayne Came Out With An Album This Past Year

  • Jacob Nesbit: Love Me Or Hate Me by Lil’ Wayne
  • Curtis Washington Jr.: Dedicate by Lil’ Wayne
  • Will Barker: Famous by Lil’ Wayne

At least pick something from the Carter 3. C’mon.

Other Assorted Hip/Hop

  • Zack Gregory: No Stylist by French Montana
  • Matt Goodheart: Yeah! by Usher
  • Trey Harris: G.O.M.D. by J Cole
  • Heston Kjerstad: Really Got It by Jerreau
  • Christian Franklin: I Get the Bag by Gucci Mane
  • Liam Henry: Nonstop by Drake

You think Matt saw those Metro commercials and got inspired? Some really solids choices from Harris and Franklin.

Grab Bag

  • Jacob McFarland: Indian Summer by Jai Wolf
  • Connor Noland: Jungle by X Ambassadors
  • Andrew Stanley: Mile High by James Blake
  • Jacob Burton: Wicked Games by The Hot Damns
  • Marshall Denton: Safari Song by Greta Van Fleet
  • Steven Sanchez: X (Remix) by Nicky Jam
  • Carter Sells: Fire by Barnes Courtney
  • Cody Scroggins: UCLA by RL Grime
  • Zebulon Vermillion: Step Up (In My Mind) by Rigby

Yeah we got quite a few random ones this year.

Walk Up Classics

10. Caden Monke: All Of The Lights by Kanye West

9. Evan Taylor: Hypnotize by Notorious B.I.G.

Two classics. A good way to narrow down the top 10.

The Really Good Ones We Had to Rank

8. Isaiah Campbell: Devil Eyes by Hippie Sabotage

Zay is going with the same song as last year, and it’s a good one.

7. Patrick Wicklander: The Greatest Show by The Greatest Showman

Big respect for going with the musical route. Really undervalued in walk up song territory.

6. Kole Ramage: Team by Lorde

5. Jack Kenley: Here Comes the Hot Stepper by Ini Kamoze

4. Dominic Flether: Clumsy by Fergie

It’s no national anthem remix but it’ll still do.

3. Collin Taylor: My Humps by Black Eyed Peas

Shoutout to every middle school in the early 2000’s.

2. Casey Opitz: Boombastic by Shaggy

This is the second year in a row Optiz has brought out a damn good one. I was about to go with this as number one until...

1. Kevin Kopps: Bad Boys by Inner Circle

DO YOU GET IT? HIS NAME IS COPS.

Kevin Kopps takes the crown this year.
