Rakeem Boyd Will Return for His Senior Season

Arkansas’ best offensive player will be back in 2020.

It’s a good day to be a Hog fan. The Razorbacks started the day by announcing the hiring of Kendal Briles as offensive coordinator. Just an hour later, more good news: Rakeem Boyd will return for his senior season.

It’s hard to understate how much this means to the 2020 team. Boyd rushed for 1,133 yards (28th nationally) and averaged 6.2 yards per rush in 2019, despite running behind a struggling offensive line and with almost no passing game to complement his production.

With the hiring of Briles as OC, Boyd could be set up for a breakout year. At FAU in 2017, Devin Singletary rushed for 1,918 yards and 32 touchdowns. Florida State’s Cam Akers cracked 1,100 rushing yards this past season.

The Hogs will need to improve on the offensive line, but Boyd has all the tools to become a back drafted in one of the earlier rounds of the NFL Draft.
