Update: The original publication of this article incorrectly listed Mason Jones as suspended. Eric Musselman has since revealed that he was injured with a shoulder issue.
It was a tough day in Bud Walton, but the Hogs got it done. The Norse put up a heck of a fight, but Musselman’s boys grabbed a clutch final rebound after a crucial miss and never looked back.
Mason Jones was injured for the game today, and it was felt, as the Razorbacks struggled for offense. Jimmy Whitt Jr. and Desi Sills chipped in some great efforts to make up for that absence, with 24 and 17 points respectively. Adrio Bailey and Reggie Chaney put in great defensive effort that won’t show up in the box score, with Bailey grabbing the clinching rebound.
Dantez Walton turned in a spectacular shooting performance, going 10-14 and 4-6 from deep for 30 points— literally half of Northern Kentucky’s points. It wasn’t enough though, as Isaiah Joe turned in two clutch three pointers of his own, finishing with 10 points on 2-10 shooting.
It’s not falling for Joe right now, but presumably that will turn around. Evidently Musselman is fine with him letting fly, because he’s certainly still shooting. Sills still can’t get a three pointer to drop, but he had some great runs inside.
The Hogs are now 7-0, and have withstood a lot of adversity.
For a tough game, I was proud of the team for pulling together and turning in a comprehensive effort. I’m excited to start SEC play.
The Muss Bus will roll on, as the Hogs will take on the Austin Peay Governors(?) on December 3 at 7pm CT in Bud Walton.
