Arkansas Signing Day: Chevin Calloway Signs with the Razorbacks

Cornerback 5’10” 180 lbs. Dallas, Texas

Finally, the Razorbacks get good news on National Signing Day with the commitment of Chevin Calloway, a cornerback from Dallas.

Calloway is one of the best cornerbacks in the country. He’s a 4-star prospect and ranked as high as the 92nd overall player nationally by Rivals. He’s ranked 143rd overall according to the 24/7 composite. He chose Arkansas over pretty much everybody, including Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, LSU, Oklahoma, Auburn, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, UCLA, and several others. His other two finalists were Texas and Ole Miss.

And he did it live on ESPN, a setup that’s left Hog fans with Signing Day disappointment more often than not in recent years (we think Denver Kirkland was the last player to commit to Arkansas this way). He is originally from Pine Bluff and his family are reportedly big Razorback fans.

Calloway is the headliner of Arkansas’ class as the highest-rated prospect. In fact, Arkansas’ next highest-rated recruit is safety Montaric Brown, meaning Arkansas signed two 4-star players in the secondary for maybe the first time in the decade-plus I’ve been following recruiting. It’s certainly the most exciting part of this class. Calloway joins Jarques McClellion and Jordon Curtis as cornerbacks.
