Cornerback Britto Tutt Tears ACL In Arkansas Preseason Camp

Another Razorback defensive back goes down.

Track and Field: University of Arkansas Views Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

A day after we learned senior cornerback D.J. Dean suffered a hamstring injury, it’s being widely reported that sophomore cornerback Britto Tutt tore his ACL in practice and will be out for the 2016 season.

Tutt was a late signee in the 2016 class as a juco transfer with three years of eligibility remaining, and had performed well in camp thus far. He intercepted a pass from freshman quarterback Cole Kelley in last weekend’s scrimmage. He only played one year at junior college so he does have a redshirt year available to him, which he will use this season.

Tutt was not expected to be a starter, at least immediately. However he was in the conversation for playing time this season. He was the lone cornerback signed in this year’s class, so combined with the potential loss of Dean, Arkansas’ cornerback depth has definitely taken a hit over the last few days.

Henre Toliver and Jared Collins are currently listed as the Razorbacks’ starting cornerbacks.
