The Arkansas spring game is set. Most of the 2016 Razorbacks will be on full display at noon on Saturday April 23rd. If you can't make it to Fayetteville, the game will be televised on the SEC Network. The Network will be broadcasting several spring games throughout April. Some teams are playing their games on Friday night, which seems fun - at least a lot more interesting than noon on Saturday.
Mike Anderson has some high expectations for next season. Despite the losses of 2015, Anderson said that a .500 season is not acceptable and he expects to make the NCAA Tournament next season. If his expectations of only losing seniors this offseason, then the team will certainly be improved. He specifically pointed out he will be looking at some improvements from Moses Kingsley and Dusty Hannahs, who will be the leaders of the team. An NCAA Tournament berth may seem a long ways off, but if some of the JUCO newcomers can come in and make an impact, the team my have some quality depth to work with.
Another notable thing that Anderson mentioned was his team's likely trip to Spain this summer. The trip could be a huge benefit for the team because it would give them a few days of practice and to get some exhibition games under their belt before the school year starts. That could be huge for the five newcomers for next season. How quickly they get acclimated to the team and style of play will be a huge factor in the team's success. These trips are also important for team building, so it will likely benefit the team in more ways than one.
In addition to the basketball of March Madness, there are also thousands of brackets that come out for hypothetical situations. Edward Aschoff has a mock bracket for the SEC this past season. Arkansas is listed as his 6 seed against Kentucky in the opening round. He went ahead and played out the whole bracket and (spoiler alert) the final is an Alabama and LSU matchup. It is fun to see how a playoff like the SEC championship would play out in a football setting and it is interesting how the Hogs do in this bracket.
