Arkansas Picks Up Votes In AP and Coaches Polls After Texas Tech Victory

Yeah, yeah polls irrelevance and all that. But still, RESPECT!

Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Razorbacks picked up three votes in the AP poll and seven in the Coaches Poll after traveling to Lubbock and roaring through Texas Tech on Saturday. So someone besides Bret Bielema is voting for Arkansas now.

While the Hogs have earned a little respect after playing pretty well for most of the first three games (everything other than the 2nd half of the Auburn game, really), the SEC West as a whole may be at an all-time high. Five of the top ten teams in the AP Poll are from the SEC West, and four in the Coaches Poll.

Mississippi State is still barely on the outside of both polls, so all seven teams in the division at the very least received votes this week. That's astonishing.

However, Arkansas' legendary tough schedule did take a hit with Georgia's loss to South Carolina this weekend. Missouri is still ranked. Northern Illinois received 10 votes in the Coaches Poll but none in the AP Poll.
