Hogs basketball loses assistant coach

NCAA Basketball: Auburn at Arkansas Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

On top of finalizing his roster, Eric Musselman must now restructure his coaching staff. If there is a portal for assistant coaches, Muss is sure to explore it in the coming days.

On Wednesday, lead assistant Gus Argenal accepted the head coach position at Cal State San Bernardino. The new role is Argenal’s first head coaching job.

In his two seasons at Arkansas, the Razorbacks won 50 games on their way to two Sweet 16 appearances and a showing in the Elite 8.

Muss has lost a handful of assistants as a collegiate head coach, creating a coaching tree that will continue to grow. Most recently, Clay Moser, Keith Smart, and Corey Williams departed from Fayetteville for another coaching job after spending time on Muss’ staff.

The 2023-24 Razorbacks will look slightly different based on the roster and coaching staff changes but should still retain the excitement level and expectations.
