Dear Razorback Baseball fans,
Thank you for helping generate the excitement around Baum-Walker Stadium each night. You can look around the country and never find a an environment quite like what Arkansas has.
I’ve watched many of games on TV, in person and from outside of the fence and I can tell you the fan support is unmatched. Look back to 17 years ago when Razorback Baseball was trying to climb to that next level under Dave Van Horn. The atmosphere was incredible. You had guys like Hognoxious, Mike “Mr. Hogtastic” McCormack and the 100’s of other fans that were the staple. That were the nucleus of the Razorback Baseball fan base.
These fellas were fans of Razorback Baseball was cool. Before any of the baseball games were even televised. Hats off to them for the long-suffering of being a fan. We’ve reached to the point that these guys should be appreciated and applauded for their long-term fandom.
Newer hog fans, like me, who have been watching since around 2008- I was around 15-16 at the time. I remember watching the Brady Toops grand slam to stay alive for the in the regional. I remember the 3 AM, stay alive win versus Missouri State in 2017. Us younger generation remember the newer things. We also have helped build a juggernaut of a stadium atmosphere with long-standing, suffering Razorback Baseball fans.
This weekend, it felt like we were in a club through key moments of these recent Regional games. Saturday night in the dark Arkansas fans were making it hard on Nebraska to win the game. The same thing on the Game Seven on Monday night, the stadium was rocking and louder than ever before when Christian Franklin made it home off a wild pitch and then Charlie Welch’s homer on the very next pitch. That sent Baum-Walker into a frenzy like never before. It could’ve been the loudest moment in any sport ever.
We have a taste for a winner. A winner of the College World Series Championship. The only title that the Razorbacks are focused on.
If this weekend in Baum-Walker Stadium was a precursor for what we see this weekend in the Super Regional, NC State will be given all types of hell from the Razorback fan base.
Fans, keep it up. Let’s beat NC State.
