Razorback Flash From The Past: 2004 Baseball Team

RAZORBACK FLASH FROM THE PAST

2004 was Dave Van Horn’s second year leading the Razorbacks and the odds were immediately stacked against them being picked to finish last in the SEC West in the preseason by other coaches around the league.

They would go on to win their first super Regional in school history (Supers began in 1999) en route to their first College World Series since 1989.

The Hogs silenced critics going 37-19 (19-11) in the regular season finishing first in the SEC West and sharing the regular season conference championship with Georgia.

After falling in an elimination game to South Carolina 3-2 in the SEC Championship Game, Arkansas won the Fayetteville Regional defeating Le Moyne 4-1, Missouri 10-7. and finishing off with two wins over Wichita State (11-9 & 7-3).

The Razorbacks drew a talented Florida State team with names such as Stephen Drew, Eddy Martinez-Esteve, and Shane Robinson for the Fayetteville Super Regional in front of record crowds going 2-0 (7-5 & 4-2) in the best-of-3 series to advance to Omaha.
