The Razorback athletic department is having another incredible week all around for its winter and spring sports. On Monday many of the rankings were updated and the majority of the teams are still ranked and highly at that!
For the second week in a row the University of Arkansas went undefeated in their games that spanned all sports. Ladyback softball is in the midst of a 10 game winning streak after losing two do their first three games. Six of their wins came this past weekend when they were unbeaten in the Razorback Invitational.
With 33 home runs through their first 13 games, Arkansas leads the SEC in that statistical category. Braxton Burnside has been terrific as she helped defeat unbeaten Texas Tech. Burnside had two home runs in the matchup for her third two-homer game of the season.
Women’s basketball continues to rise in the AP Top 25 Poll this week as they’re up to 13th. Coming off a 94-76 victory of Alabama, the Ladybacks have won their last five matchups. They have also beaten top five teams UConn and Baylor this season inside Bud Walton Arena. They sit at 19-7 (9-6 SEC) and also are 12-1 at home this season. Signs of a solid team under Mike Neighbors. Watch out for Arkansas come postseason time. The Ladybacks have one more game to close out the regular season with Ole Miss on Thursday. A win against the Lady Rebels would be the second straight 20 win regular season under Neighbors.
The Women’s Track and Field program won their seventh straight SEC Championship. There is plenty of excitement around the team but it seems to have become expected that they would win their conference. Arkansas will compete for the National Championship June 9-12 on the campus of the University of Oregon at Hayward Field. The lady’s are currently ranked first in the latest track and field poll. The women’s cross country are also ranked first in their poll, too.
