Razorback head coach, Sam Pittman has been handing out gifts throughout fall camp. One of those is awarding scholarships to hard working players during preparation for the season. This time the scholarship awarded was to Simeon Blair of Pine Bluff.
Blair will be a redshirt sophomore this fall for the Razorbacks. He played a majority of his snaps in 2019 on special teams where he played in 11 of 12 games. The 5’10 204 defensive back has a role on all three facets of the game.
In the coach’s words:
“Well, let’s talk about Simeon,” Pittman said. “I think he’s starting on four special teams for us. He also has a role on defense, but you know, he’s a guy that, to me, he’s a guy that you want on your football team. A guy that’s unselfish that works hard, and he’s going to help us on teams, so that’s a big deal for us. To me, if you start on all four teams, you’re a starter, so I think he’s earned that.”
Blair is the second walk-on that has been awarded a scholarship this preseason. The first one was offensive lineman and Notre Dame transfer Luke Jones.
