Biggest And Best Games Of The Series

February 15, 2017

Arkansas 83 @ #21 South Carolina 76

Arkansas was building their resume, but desperately needed a meaningful win. Frank Martin was leading his best campaign at South Carolina. The Gamecocks made it to the Final Four that season. The Hogs came to Colombia facing a ranked SC squad who had won 9 out of 11. Jaylen Barford and Dusty Hannahs scored 43 points combined while the Hogs shot 53.6% from the field. Arkansas led by 7 at halftime and at the end of the game to pick up the road win.

#13 South Carolina 88 @ #16 Arkansas 96

This game is the most recent Top 25 matchup in BWA. I almost can’t believe it has been 22 years. That will change soon. Maybe even this season. Pat Bradley made 7 threes on 11 attempts to score 33 points. Kareen Reid added 21 points and 8 assists. Arkansas shot 12 of 20 from 3 and SC just couldn’t keep up.

#25 South Carolina 66 @ Arkansas 82

Arkansas had 4 players in double figures and 17,000 fans behind them when #25 SC came to The Hill. Kendrick Davis(19 points) and Jonathon Modica(17 points) both came off the bench to lead the Hogs. Arkansas shot 22 of 24 from the free throw line. Ronnie Brewer did a little bit of everything with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks, and 4 steals.

Arkansas 69 @ South Carolina 67

As I was researching this game and looking into the box score, I couldn’t believe Arkansas won this game. South Carolina shot 48.9% to Arkansas’ 40.8%. SC attempted 31 free throws while Arkansas attempted just 1(!) for the entire game. Defense was the reason Arkansas won this game. The Hogs forced 19 turnovers while only committing 7. Joe Johnson made a 3 with 12 seconds left to give Arkansas the lead and the win.

Outstanding Performances

Pat Bradley – March 8, 1996

Pat Bradley had some great games against South Carolina. We highlighted one earlier. In the 1996 SEC Tournament, Bradley made 7 three pointers to score 23 points as the Hogs route South Carolina, 80-58.

Corliss Williamson – January 21, 1995

Williamson had 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists on 10-13 shooting when the #9 Hogs beat SC, 88-73. In other words, a normal game for Corliss.

Marshawn Powell & Courtney Fortson – February 17, 2010

Powell and Fortson had outstanding game in this win over SC in 2010. Powell had 26 points with 8 rebounds on 10-16. Fortson was on triple double watch with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. Arkansas won by 13.
