UPDATE: With the 95th overall pick in the NFL Draft, the Denver broncos select McTelvin Agim, defensive tackle-Arkansas.

It was a late night for Hog fans as their former Under Armour All-American and the Razorbacks’ highest rated player of the decade became the first Razorback off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft.

According to 247sports.com, the fourth highest rated recruit to ever sign with the Arkansas Razorbacks is McTelvin Agim. He signed with the Razorbacks after the 2015 season out of Hope High School, a small town along Interstate 30 heading southeast to Texarkana.

CAREER: 140 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks and six career forced fumbles.

Agim was thought to be a game changer along the defensive line and he was. Agim was one of the only positives amongst a terrible Arkansas defense that has been fielded over the previous four seasons. Three different defensive coordinators, four different defensive schemes and two different head coaches never slowed down the development of Agim. Team struggles aside many coaches raved about his motor during practice, his hulk like strength, quickness off the line and ability to move in small areas of space. Those traits are what really turned scouts heads at the NFL Combine.

How did Agim chart at the Combine?

Height: 6’2 5/8

Weight: 309

Hands: 10 1/8 inches

Arms: 33 4/8

Wingspan: 80 2/8

40 yard dash: 4.98

Bench Press: 27 reps at 225 (10th of 38 lineman)

Agim did not participate in the vertical jump, standing broad jump, three come drill or shuttle tests.

On another note, Agim had to add nearly 30 pounds to his frame as he was moved to the interior defensive line for the 2019 season. He is a tweener type defensive lineman and many draft gurus consider him a project player with tons of upside and ability.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Strengths: Quick twitch to get past linemen, lateral movement, high motor

Weakness: Learn to attack better inside, defending the run, developing hand placement

Where does he land? Agim was projected early on to be a day three pick. Although, it would not surprise many if he moves up to a late day two due to what he has done throughout the offseason and draft preparation. Agim really could be the surprise for this 2020 NFL Draft class.
