Arkansas moved to 3-0 on Wednesday night with a 72-60 win over Texas-Arlington. Arkansas controlled the game for 30 minutes and looked to be on the way towards a 25+ victory. With 9 minutes to go, Eric Musselman employed a stall-ball, half-court offense to work on late game scenarios. The results were poor and Musselman was livid. He slammed the scorer’s table several times. You could even see the disgust on Assistant Coach Clay Moser’s face. It wasn’t pretty. The Razorbacks scored just 6 points in the finals 9 minutes.
While Arkansas fans will be frustrated by that ending. It is necessary. You have to be prepared when the lights are the brightest. That is what Musselman is trying to do. Run the offense, see what needs corrected, and be ready when you are up 7 on the road in SEC play with under 2 minutes to play.
Tonight was the Moses Moody show! The freshman had his best game of his young career by far. He had 24 points on 7-12 shooting with 9 rebounds. He added 8-10 from the free throw line.
Connor Vanover was extremely effective yet again. In just 12 minutes played, Vanover had 12 points on 5-6 shooting with 2 blocks.
Jalen Tate added 14 points with 6 assists and Justin Smith had 11 points with 9 rebounds.
Shahada Wells and Fredelin De La Cruz had 28 points combined to lead the Mavericks who fall to 1-3 on the year.
Arkansas held the Mavericks to 38.9% shooting and just 7 free throw attempts.
The Hogs are back in action on Saturday when Lipscomb comes to town. The game is scheduled for 5pm and will be streamed on SEC Network +.
