The University of Arkansas has announced that head coach Sam Pittman has tested positive for COVID-19.
Pittman was tested Sunday “as part of the team’s normal protocols” and the test returned positive Monday morning. Pittman has been re-tested and the football program is awaiting the results of that test. Pittman has no symptoms but is in isolation at home.
Barry Odom will serve as the Razorbacks’ interim coach until Pittman is able to return. If Pittman is unable to pull a Nick Saban and get three negative tests before Saturday’s game at Florida, then Odom will coach the team.
It’s not clear if the team is dealing with any kind of outbreak. If Pittman truly has the virus, it seems likely that several players do as well.
