After 16 seasons, 642 wins, 15 NCAA tournament appearances, and 5 College World Series appearances, Dave Van Horn will call Fayetteville, AR home for at least five more seasons. Last season Arkansas got as far as they’ve been under DVH, finishing the season in the College World Series Final. This year’s upcoming team will be replacing a ton of talent but Van Horn has shown the ability to continuously reload, Getting to the CWS every three years dating back to 2009.
The new contract, which was announced today, gives options for two one-year extensions that could push the deal to seven years.
Let’s be honest, Van Horn will be at Arkansas as long as he still wants to coach. But this is great news for the program as it backs its high performing coaches. The softball, men’s and women’s track and field, and men’s and women’s golf coaches all received similar extensions after each having very successful seasons.
