It didn’t take long to fill one of the roster spots vacated by Darious Hall and C.J. Jones transferring. Mason Jones, from Connors State JUCO, committed to the Hogs this weekend. He comes after one year at JUCO so will have three years of eligibility with the Hogs.

Jones visited Fayetteville just a few days ago and apparently liked what he saw. The 6’5”, 175 lbs. wing player averaged over 15 points per game and six rebounds at Connors State, the same Junior College that Arkansas got Arlando Cook from. Both of those were second on the team. He also shot 42% from deep, making the most shots from three point range on the team.
He’s not going to come with a lot of accolades or expectations this season, but fills a role that is desperately needed for next season, and that’s three point shooting. Arkansas lost almost literally all of their made three pointers from last season and needs to restock in wings that can shoot it. He won’t be the Daryl Macon or Jaylen Barford type JUCO player, but he can fill a role that’s badly needed.
