Olympic Sports Express Recap: Close

Arkansas came oh so close to another SEC Title

ArkansasRazorbacks.com

Soccer

It was so close to a historic moment for the Hogs. Instead they fell for the third straight year in the SEC Title game. If you’re feeling like Arkansas always manages to lose these games, you’re not wrong. Arkansas is 2-26 in Conference Championship Games during their time in the SEC. They had a 1-0 halftime lead before it was a 1-1 final and LSU went on to win in penalties. That came after a 4-0 win over Ole Miss and an overtime win over Florida.

Now the Hogs turn their attention to the NCAA Tournament, they get to host Little Rock in Fayetteville. Hosting is a huge deal for the Hogs, who finished the regular season undefeated at home. Should they advance, they would face the winner of Texas/Virginia Tech. Texas is the seeded opponent in this section of the bracket and are the heavy favorites and would host the second round matchup.

Swimming and Diving

They had a two day meet with Missouri and No. 18 Kentucky and split the results. Kentucky topped the Hogs 206-147, but the Hogs outlasted Mizzou 177-176. Anna Hopkin led the way for the Hogs, including two event wins. One as a part of the 200 yard medley relay, and the other was a school record in the 50 freestyle.

Volleyball

Their only match this weekend was on the road against No. 11 Florida. They came out and surprised the Gators with a 25-20 set one win. However from there Florida settled into the match and won the final three sets.
