It was disjointed, lacked flow, but the Hogs did what they needed to get a 81-58 win over UC Davis. There were 53 fouls and 39 turnovers between the two teams, really keeping the game from having any kind of flow, but some hot shooting from Mason Jones and Adrio Bailey propelled the Hogs forward. Jones led the team with 21 points on 6/9 shooting and hitting four shots from downtown. Bailey had a career high 20, and went 9/11 from the free throw line
The Hogs kept a team that had been struggling offensively in a funk for the first part of the game. Arkansas got off to an 11-0 start and the Aggies didn’t even score until over six minutes into the game. They kept the Aggies at about that range throughout the game, staying between a 7-12 point lead for nearly the rest of the game before pulling away in the final five minutes.
Daniel Gafford had 12 points, four rebounds, and four blocks, but six turnovers hindered him offensively. Isaiah Joe pitched in with 14 points as well and was the fourth Hog to hit double figures in the game. After the Texas game there were going to be a lot of eyes on the free throw stripe, and there was marginal improvement, going 25-39 (64%) from the line.
Next up is the big home matchup against Indiana. Arkansas’ defense looks to be in good shape but the offense is going to need a significant improvement to take down Romeo Langford and company.
