More on Reggie Chaney: Arkansas’ Newest Commit

Learn about the 6th commit of the 2018 recruiting class.

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-First Round-Arkansas vs Seton Hall Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Not long after Arkansas’ win over Ole Miss, Razorback basketball got in the action with a big recruiting win. Reggie Chaney committed to the Hogs, giving them six commits and likely wrapping up a strong recruiting class.

Arkansas was Chaney’s first visit back in September. He then visited TCU, Texas A&M, and Wichita State. He also had offers from Oklahoma State, Memphis, and Ole Miss. Getting Chaney is an important get for Mike Anderson after Reggie Perry’s decomittment. Arkansas needed another post player with Trey Thompson, Dustin Thomas, and Arlando Cook all entering their senior year.

Getting the forward along with Ethan Henderson isn’t going to have the star power Perry has, but will go a long way to filling the absences of those seniors in 2018.

Barring any late movement in the roster, Arkansas’ recruiting for 2018 is pretty close to wrapped up. Arkansas has six commits and six outgoing seniors. Transfers or players leaving for other reasons could happen. But for right now the 2018 basketball roster is very close to being set.

It’s still very early and likely to change, especially when Kentucky’s most recent edition of Monstars commit, but the Hogs have the second best class in the SEC at the moment. 247Sports has Chaney, Henderson, and Isaiah Joe all in their Top 100.
