Arkansas Recruiting News: Maleek Williams Commits to the Razorbacks

Running Back / 6’0” / 210 lbs / Punta Gorda, Florida

The Razorbacks are hosting one of their big summer camps this weekend, and picked up a commitment from one of their top running back targets, Maleek Williams from Punta Gorda, Florida.

Williams chose the Razorbacks over offers from Tennessee, North Carolina, South Florida, Kentucky, Colorado, and Illinois. He actually named the Illini his leader earlier in the week but apparently saw enough on his visit to Fayetteville that he decided to make the call.

He's a three-star prospect on 24/7 and Scout, and hasn't yet been rated on Rivals. Here’s how Scout describes his ability:

Williams is a crafty runner that possesses impressive vision and lateral quickness heading into his senior year. You also have to take notice of Williams' burst and acceleration once reaching the second level. He plays with more finesse than power at this stage of his young career, but does a good job of maintaining balance and bouncing off tackles as well. He has that intriguing combination of size and athletic ability.

This is the first running back commit for the Razorbacks. The Hogs are continuing to restock the position following the departure of Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams. Heading into 2017, the Hogs are positioned to have Rawleigh Williams III, Devwah Whaley, T.J. Hammonds, and Maleek Williams on the depth chart. And potentially more if then recruit another running back this year.

This is the 10th commitment for Arkansas this year. He’s also the 2nd commitment named Maleek, along with wide receiver commit Maleek Barkley.
