Injury Updates: Bielema expects the Hogs to be at full strength in Lubbock except for Tevin Mitchel. Randy Ramsey didn't play Saturday because he had a very mild ankle sprain but should be okay. JoJo Robinson was almost able to go but just wasn't able to push off. Deatrich Wise was still sore during practice last week so they held him out but they expect him to be available.
Tevin Mitchel will not play and Bielema is considering redshirting him. If he's not involved in the Northern Illinois game plan, they may decide to redshirt him unless a lot of injuries happen at cornerback.
The MVPs from the Nicholls game were Denver Kirkland on offense, Taiwan Johnson on defense, and Jeremy Sprinkle, Khalia Hackett (5 of 10 tackles on kickoffs), and Dwayne Eugene on special teams.
Of course Bielema was very complimentary of Texas Tech. He said they do what they do very well. Compliments the quarterback (noted he was voted team captain as a sophomore) and the running backs.
After their first couple of close games, Bielema said, "They're trying to prove themselves as well". He also remembered coaching against Texas Tech at Iowa in the Alamo Bowl back when Kliff Kingsbury was the Red Raiders' quarterback. He remembered Kingsbury making great calls on the field.
There were the obligatory Bielema-style vs Air Raid questions. Bielema said this is an example of when the "plan overall as a program kicks in." He said they'll attempt to prohibit Arkansas from subbing, as per usual.
Frank Ragnow played a lot of snaps Saturday. He had a mental freeze on one snap but played well. His only problems come when he's playing too fast or too hard. Cameron Jefferson got almost 40 snaps. Jefferson had to change numbers so he could play both on the offensive line and at tight end. Switched between 79 and 89.
Scotty Thurman Jr has been placed on scholarship.
Someone at the end asked Bielema about being aware of the horse at Texas Tech. Bielema said they'll make sure to have adequate sideline horse awareness. Be ready for anything.
