Arkansas Razorbacks Internet Chatter: February 3, 2014

News, notes and interesting reads for Hog fans. #TrenchHawgs

Nelson Chenault-US PRESSWIRE

Top Crootin' Classes – There may have been one aspect left out of the All-Arkansas Fight BCS Era Razorbacks series. How about some of those recruiting classes? Several of those classes brought names that would forever be etched in Razorback history. Matt Jones. Darren McFadden. Felix Jones. Batman Carroll. Cedric Cobbs. Caleb Miller. The list literally goes on and on and on. And thanks to Bleacher Report, Arkansas' top 5 recruiting classes from the BCS Era have been ranked for you. Enjoy.

#TrenchHawgs – In order to succeed playing Bret Bielema's "normal American football" you need to have a dominant line on both sides of the ball. And Bert is well on his way to making this a reality. He has four OL commitments as of now, and a pair of stud DTs that will help fill the shoes left by Robert Thomas and Byran Jones. Slowly but surely, Bielema is beginning to build this program his way. It's pretty damn exciting.

Jake Wise – Arkansas' senior catcher will be back behind the plate in 2014 catching an almost entirely new pitching staff. But if Wise had his way, he wouldn't be back in Fayetteville leading the young staff. After injuring his throwing elbow late last season, Wise underwent Tommy John surgery in the offseason, and also had double hernia surgery in December. Wise is planning to return better than ever, however, and has been named a team captain heading into his senior season.

Hog Hoops Fading – The suspensions, which are barely even worth mentioning because Qualls and Harris don't deserve the attention, added bad to worse in most people's estimations. Arkansas began the season very promising, getting our hopes up like they always do and ended the non-conferene portion of the schedule with losses to only California and Gonzaga in Maui (Cal upset No. 1 Arizona over the weekend, Gonzaga is solid). But once SEC play began, the things Arkansas covered up in non-conference play reared its head. Now sitting at 2-6 in league play and with little hope of getting back to the NCAA Tournament, Mike Anderson is basically looking to make the most of a bad situation.

This is Trey Flowers tweeting 5-star DE Solomon Thomas last week. It gave me chills when I read it. Let's hope Flowers staying for his senior season can also make a player like Thomas believe in the program and sign on.
