I was able to attend Bret Bielema's press conference Thursday after practice in which he stated Brandon Allen's status, who the quarterbacks would be if Brandon Allen couldn't go Saturday, and who is back to being 100 percent healthy. Bielema said quarterback Damon "Duwop" Mitchell, scout team QB, is fifth on the roster at the position. With a name like "Duwop," you automatically move up on my list. You don't get a nickname like that without being good.
During the middle of this week, Bret Bielema's contract details surfaced for the first time. Incentives for Bielema go beyond the playing field, receiving a nice chunk of change for graduating players and academic success. At 2.95M per year, that makes Bert just the 8th highest paid coach in the SEC, even below James Franklin. Chew on that.
I really get into things like power rankings, polls, and such. Even though no power ranking is ever concrete, it's fun to see where your team stands on a weekly basis (because not all of us are fortunate enough to be in the top 25 weekly). Team Speed Kills polled all the SEC SB Nation sites, and collectively came up with the SEC Power Poll after week 3. It's a really good read, and includes some the thoughts of the sites for each team. READ IT
I don't know what in the hell this is, but I found it so here.
For week 4, actually good college football games are going to be hard to find. You'll really have to look to find one. Thankfully, Team Speed Kills made an SEC television schedule for games this weekend. You'll have nailbiters such as Alabama-Colorado State, North Texas-Georgia, and Vandy-UMass. There are a few good games, however, such as the always looked forward to Indiana-Missouri matchup (maybe in basketball).
