Here's the recap from UA:
FAYETTEVILLE - The University of Arkansas Razorback football team continued its first week of preseason camp Tuesday. Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jim Chaney met with the media to offer a recap of the day and an update on the team's progress.
"It got a little hot, but the kids came through it and practiced hard," Coach Chaney said. "The carry-over has been great from spring through the summer and we're pretty excited about that. Practice two looked good. Let's see what it looks like tomorrow when we put some pads on."
Coach Chaney was asked about his evaluation on how the underclassmen have looked thus far in camp and whether or not any individuals have stood out.
"I think Brandon (Allen) is doing real well right now," Coach Chaney said. "He understands the offense familiarity. The more reps he gets the better he gets. I think D'Arthur Cowan has had two very nice days. All the receivers, they're playing good. The (offensive) line, they're just excited about getting pads on so we can go pound on people. That will be fun to see tomorrow."
With the Razorback offensive line entering its first season under new offensive line coach Sam Pittman, Coach Chaney was asked on how the unit has progressed and if it has been finding continuity.
"They seem like it," Coach Chaney said. "Once again, we've been out there in our underwear running around, so we're going to find out when we put the pads on. They look like a different group and they're playing with a little more confidence."
With a number of freshmen entering the fold this season, Coach Chaney discussed how the upperclassmen were influential in getting the underclassmen acclimated over the summer.
"I think that's been incredible," Coach Chaney said. "In college football, because of the time constraints put on us, the only coaches you've got is the leadership of your squad throughout the summer. Those kids are great. We're fortunate that we have a senior tight end in (Austin) Tate, senior center in (Travis) Swanson and senior fullback in (Kiero) Small."
