Arkansas Gets One Vote In USA Today Coaches Poll; Will Play 5 of Top 13 Teams

This was expected but now it's official.

Wesley Hitt

We've been talking all offseason about how brutal Arkansas' schedule is, and here's the first official poll of the year to drive the point home.

Arkansas will play 5 of the top 13 teams in the rankings:

  • Alabama is ranked #1
  • Texas A&M is ranked #6
  • South Carolina is ranked #7
  • Florida is ranked #10
  • LSU is ranked #13

But the real surprise? Arkansas received a vote in the poll! The Razorbacks are firmly included in the "other's receiving votes" list. Woo! Respect! Also of note, Bret Bielema is a voter in the poll. I'm sure this is not connected.

Some of Arkansas' opponents are in that list as well, including Ole Miss (32 votes), Mississippi State (3 votes), and Rutgers (1 vote). Georgia is ranked #5 but the Hogs avoided the Bulldogs this season. Other SEC teams getting votes: Vanderbilt (29 votes) and Tennessee (1 vote).

And by law, we must include this note: preseason polls mean nothing.
