After last weekend's UConn game, I was really hoping for a better showing from the Razorbacks today. In fact, I was kind of thinking they would win. As Rick Perry might say, "Oops."
Instead, the game resembled 99 percent of the Hogs' road contests over the past 10 years, and they got roasted. For the second straight game, Arkansas shot incredibly poorly from the field, making just less than 34 percent of their field-goal attempts. And for the second straight game, their opponent was red hot: today, the Sooners made 52 percent of their shots and 50 percent of their three-point attempts. On the bright side, B.J. Young turned in another fine performance.
In the end, it's tough to get too worked up: everyone knew this was going to be a rebuilding year. I think these Hogs very well may pull off an unexpected victory or two, and I believe they've got a fighting chance for the NIT. Unfortunately, though, we also have to expect a fair share of clunkers like we saw today.
