And the Hits Just Keep on Comin': Power Forward Devonta Abron Commits to Hogs

When it comes to recruiting, John Pelphrey is on a serious roll. Earlier this week, the Hogs secured the verbal commitment of Devonta Abron, a 6'8", 225-pound power forward from Dallas.

Abron is the fifth member of the high school class of 2011 to make a verbal commitment to the Razorbacks, joining Arkansans Rashad Madden, Hunter Mickelson and Aaron Ross and St. Louis native B.J. Young. Like those four, Abron is included in the prestigious Rivals150 ranking of the 2011 class; Abron is No. 106.

It's important to keep in mind that verbal committments are non-binding (recruits can't sign binding letters of intent until November). And it's also important to remember that SAT/academic difficulties all too often wreak havoc with recruiting classes.

Still, those of us desperate for some good news out of the basketball program can't help but get at least a little excited about these recent developments ... OK - I'll confess: I'm a lot excited about this recruting class.
