Bret Bielema wants eggnog year round. He seems to believe this very strongly. It's one of the tidbits we learn about Bielema in this the second trailer for the "Being Bret Bielema" thing that's being produced. I'm still not sure what kind of feature this will be, but it will be released in February. The first trailer is here.
Shortly after committing to Arkansas live on ESPN2, Devwah Whaley talked about why he picked the Razorbacks, what he's looking forward to in Fayetteville, and what his in-home visit with Bielema was like. Seems like a cool kid. He also led all runners in the Under Armour All-America with 12 carries for 47 yards. Watch his actual commitment here.
Whaley is preparing to play in this weekend's Under Armor All-America game, and apparently will announce his commitment during the game between the Hogs, Horns, and Dawgs. There had been a report from a Texas recruiting site that he'd wait to announce on National Signing Day after taking official visits to Miami and Texas, but if he's announcing on Saturday, obviously that won't happen. Whaley is considered one of the top running backs in the country and would be a huge pick-up for the Razorbacks.
The Mustain documentary that premiered at the Little Rock Film Festival back in 2013 is finally available now for public streaming. It should be available via your OnDemand service and through Vudu. You can also buy the DVD from Amazon. It documents Mustain's recruitment, the 2006 season, and what happened to Mustain afterward. Here's my initial review of the film.
We've written a few posts about Baber so far while he's been on The Voice. He's in the part of the competition where fans can vote him on to the next round. If you're not familiar, Baber is an Arkansas native who currently lives in Fayetteville and teaches at Fayetteville High School. He's a big Hog fan, and is actually friends with BVC, our writer who pens Feel The Rhythm each week. There are four ways you can vote for Barrett Baber. Download his song on iTunes, get The Voice app, search NBC The Voice on Facebook, or go to NBC.com.
...and the Hogs take a 7-3 lead into the half. #BERTLYFE
Things have gotten to this point, you guys. "I'm up all night for the Razorbacks. I'm up all night for Coach Bielema. I'm up all night to beat Tennessee. I'm up all night to beat Tennessee. I'm up all night to beat Tennessee." Kinda catchy, have to admit.
"A NEW DAY IN THE SEASON OF THE PEOPLE'S GLORIOUS SPORT IS BORN"Enjoy the season, everyone.
"When the racks go up, the freaks come out!" Get an up close Ben Herbert show with this video. The Hogs held a special weightlifting session in the stadium under the lights earlier this week and it looks like it was pretty intense. 6 weeks!
This is Qualls' 13th appearance on the SportsCenter Top Ten, which is ridiculous. This was a outback dunk late in the game against South Carolina, a big play for the Hogs, obviously. Arkansas' SID people do a great job of getting ESPN's attention for these things. I would definitely use it as a recruiting tool, you know, if the Hogs happened to be recruiting a highly athletic type of player with a propensity for highlight dunks. Hypothetically.
OSU had this video on Singleton's bio page. If you'd like a glimpse of him leading running backs in practice, you should enjoy this.
The Razorbacks crushed North Dakota in both double-header games on Saturday to complete the three-game sweep. The highlight was probably this inside-the-park home run by Rick Nomura. The Hogs now head to Mobile, Alabama next week for some of their bigger non conference games against Maryland and UCF among others.
Former Razorback Patrick Beverley beat out Brandon Knight in the Finals, shown on this video. This is one of the All-Star Saturday Night events that requires the players to dribble, pass, and shoot in a race and Beverley came out on top. Congrats!
Here's three different looks at Harris' foul that sent Florida to the free throw line just before the buzzer. Right call? I've seen players get straight mugged in the last seconds in SEC games without a foul call. This was pretty weak, to me.
These are Michael Qualls' 10th and 11th appearances on the list, which seems pretty remarkable for a college player. The Hogs also took the #1 spot with Portis' tip-in game-winner. It's the 3rd time the Hogs have held the #1 spot this year.
To get a taste of new linebackers coach Vernon Hargreaves, you might enjoy this video of him being mic'd up at a Houston practice. Also of note, the Houston practice field appears to be across the street from a Popeye's, which I would think would only be a massive distraction.
This is the 9th time Qualls has earned a spot on the #SCTop10. I really think the lob from Ky Madden is probably the most impressive part of this play, though. He was clearly planning on lobbing the ball before it got to him and it was on point from beyond NBA 3-point range.
