The first in-state signee of the 2019 class is officially in. Athlete Malik Chavis has signed with the Hogs. He’s been recruited to play cornerback for the Razorbacks.

Chavis has been one of the longest standing commitments in the 2019 class. He committed in March and has been steadfast in his commitment to the Hogs for almost a full calendar year. Coming out of Rison, AR, he had offers from Arkansas and Memphis but since he’s been committed to the Hogs for so long, not many other schools came for him.
He’s the seventh ranked player in the state of Arkansas according to the 247Sports Composite and is one of five Natural State players expected to come in this class, not including preferred walk-ons. It was one of the stronger in state classes in recent memory, and getting five of the top ten is a decent pull for Chad Morris. He missed on a couple 4-star offensive linemen but got the top two players in the state and several other solid players like Chavis.
