Arkansas Early Signing Day: QB KJ Jefferson Signs With the Razorbacks

The next QB1?

It was a blow to Hog fans when Kelly Bryant chose Missouri over the Hogs. With an increased emphasis on read options, shotgun snaps and explosive plays, the Hogs need a quarterback to maximize the potential of those plays and he fit the role well.

That doesn’t mean all hope is los though. They just got their top target at the position from the high school ranks when KJ Jefferson signed with the Hogs.

When he committed to the Hogs from Sardis, MS, he was a 3-star and the 17th ranked dual threat quarterback in the country. Since then he’s risen to 4-star status and the 12th overall at the position.

Arkansas was chosen over finalists Missouri and Texas A&M, but Jefferson had offers from all over the SEC. He also had offers from Georgia, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Kentucky. Outside of the conference, Baylor, Memphis, NC State, and Indiana had also offered.

With the current quarterback situation, he may be the most important player of the 2019 class. It’s not fair to place the future of the program on his shoulders, but with Ty Storey not looking the part, and Connor Noland playing baseball this spring, Jefferson could be the guy to come in and take hold of the quarterback position for the Hogs.
