The San Antonio, Texas native has been a 1st Team All-Summit player in 2 seasons and a 2nd Team All-Summit player as a junior.
Umude is a versatile player who found himself playing on the block a lot with his back to the basket. He was effective there. He can hit a turnaround jumper and his physicality was tough to deal with in the Summit League. Umude is 6-6 and 210.
Umude can score in a variety of ways and his statistics back it up. In 101 career games, he averages 15.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He’s been very efficient with 46.9% from the field and 34.2% from 3. He can take it to the basket, shoot the mid-range, and the 3.
In 2020-21, Umude had a particularly special season. 21.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game with 35.5% from 3.
Career highs:
Points: 41
Rebounds: 14
Blocks: 4
He’s had 30 games scoring 20 points or more.
The possibilities are endless with Umude in the lineup. I could see Umude playing the Justin Smith role on this team. He may not be the defensive presence that Smith was, but he is a much more gifted scorer.
Eric Musselman’s 3rd Arkansas team is coming together.
