#12 Arkansas 87 Texas A&M 80
Anyone catch their breath yet?
My goodness. What a basketball game.
Did Texas A&M come to play or what? I do want to give them credit. With the type of year they have had, it would be so easy to not care. They played well and with a lot of confidence today.
If they do that next week at the SEC Tournament, watch out!
The Aggies have been averaging less than 60 points per game in the SEC play this year, but they come into Bud Walton and drop 80 on the Hogs. They are one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the country, but made 10 of them in BWA. It was unbelievable to watch.
Arkansas was not very good defensively. Not good at all, but I do want to give Buzz Williams props. They executed a game plan that worked and hit some tough shots.
For Arkansas, it was the Moses Moody and Jalen Tate show.
Moody was amazing. He had 28 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, and zero turnovers. His late 3 gave Arkansas the lead that they never surrendered,
Tate kept Arkansas in it. He was the offense in the middle of the game. Moody scored in bunches early and late. Tate had 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Both Moody and Tate were very efficient. They shot a combined 18-32.
The start of this game was concerning for me. A&M exposed some things with the Hogs playing without Jaylin Williams. Justin Smith had to play all 40 minutes today.
What was concerning was how antsy the team looked early on. It wasn’t that they didn’t have energy. I thought they did. Just looked in a hurry. Instead of being quick, they were in a hurry. We don’t need to see that again.
This game will teach the Hogs that they cannot overlook anyone. Division I basketball players are still division I basketball players. Anyone can put it together on any given day. When the NCAA Tournament comes, Arkansas will be facing a low seed from a low conference. They cannot overlook whoever that team is.
