Arkansas Football Lands First 2024 Commitment

NCAA Football: Mississippi State at Arkansas Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

The Arkansas Razorbacks landed their first commitment of the 2024 class on Saturday.

Braylen Russell, a 6-2, 225 pound sophomore running back, announced his commitment to the Razorbacks through Twitter on Sunday morning. This came after committing to the Arkansas staff on Saturday night.

For those of you hearing the name Braylen Russell for the first time, I can assure you that this will not be the last time.

Russell is young, as mentioned only a sophomore at Hot Springs Lakeside (AR). While watching film, you might forget that Russell is only in his sophomore season. Russell doesn’t run like a sophomore in high school. He’s dynamic, with quick feet and legitimate big play speed.

Russell ran a 4.5 second 40 yard dash, this was one of the first things that caught the attention of college coaches. He doesn’t always rely on speed or elusiveness, as taking on defenders almost appears enjoyable.

While Arkansas is the only school that has offered Russell, that will change very soon. It’s clearly evident that Braylen has a very bright future in football.

Mind you, Russell was offered by Coach Pittman and staff prior to having any varsity tape at all.

That’s extremely impressive.

While I can’t say for certain, I would be shocked if Russell doesn’t evolve into a highly rated 4-star or even a 5-star recruit. It’s rare for a running back, especially at such a young age, to possess the size and frame of Russell along with adequate speed/strength.

Be sure to watch some of Russell’s highlights here.
